Home → Services → Testing → FSSAI APPROVED TESTING LAB → Migration Testing
Migration testing is done in packaging materials to ensure that the packaging does not allow oxygen and water vapor to enter the contents of the package, i.e., it tests the barrier properties of packaging. This ensures that the contents are not spoiled ahead of their shelf life and that they last as long as possible in non-ideal conditions.
This testing requires special equipment which checks for passage or migration of oxygen (OTR: Oxygen Transmission Rate) or water vapour (WVTR: Water Vapor Transmission Rate) through a film of the specific packaging material.
